After a faultless drive and fastest times on 6 out of 8 stages Mark Straker and Keith Hounslow driving a Darrian T9, took victory in the Mini Tempest Stages at Longcross.

It was the pairings first outing for some time but there was no hint of rustiness in their performance!
Close on the winner’s heels all day were Will Nichols and Nick Broom in an immaculate and mostly sideways Mark 2 Escort. Nichols and Broom also set the fastest times on SS7&8.
Completing the top 3 were Kevin King and Dave Engwell in a Metro 6R4, the first four - wheel drive car home.
Slick organisation by Sutton & Cheam and Hart Motor Clubs enabled innovative use of the threatened Longcross venue, with the stages fast and flowing allowing the competitors to really get their teeth into the event. This also meant that every place was hard fought with tight battles all the way down the field.
Class awards went in A, to Donald Smith and Derek Robinson driving a Peugeot 205, class B honours were taken by Lyn Llewellyn/Richard Lewis in a Nova, whilst class C was won by David Wilkes and Julian Wilkes in their flying Corsa. In class D, the ever spectacular pairing of John Reddington/Bernard Glackin in another Mark 2 Escort took top spot and finally, class E went to Phil Newson and Peter James in a Mitsubishi Evo 6.
