Short Report

Despite a lack-lustre start, Mark Lane & Ian Carthew (Darrian) took the lead after SS4 from a charging Guy Wigley / Bruce Coate Bond (Escort RS2000 - Mk5).
On SS5 Lane extended his lead by a few more seconds laying the challenge firmly at Wigley's door and after a flying first lap of the Longmoor Army Camp complex, Wigley slid wide on a hairpin right, damaging a wheel which eventually detached itself form the car 200 metres later.
Lane went on to claim the inaugural Longmoor Loco Stages title with Richard Ive / Derek Webb (Mk1 Escort) claiming a superb 'sideways-all- day' 2nd overall with Rob and Henry Hall running in third in their 16v Mini.
Class Winners included Dominic Worsfold (Peugeot 106) on his first ever event, Rob Alderman (Escort RS) and Geoffery Martin (Ford Ka).

Longmoor Loco Stages 2002

The Longmoor Loco Stages, Sponsored by Nigel Simmons Video was the first multi-use stage rally to be held at Longmoor Army Camp, Bordon.

Because of it’s compact nature and intricate road network, the Longmoor Loco was run as a trial for the venue by restricting it to up to 2000cc / 2-wheel drive cars only. It is anticipated that in the future we will be able to open the event to all categories and capacities.

The Name
Ask anyone locally and they will explain that Longmoor was formerly a Training Camp and the Home of Corps of Transport, Military Railway.
Tracing its roots back as far as 1903, Longmoor Camp provided a Military Railway Trade Training School to the Royal Engineers until 1969. With tracks running from Liss in the South to Bordon in the North the lines were branched off the L & SW Railway network.
Nowadays, Longmoor Camp is used by the broad spectrum of the Services for training scenarios of all kind ranging from Fighting in Built Up Areas (FIBA) to Riot Control training by the Police.
