| Rally report: Will power at the Carnival. | |
| By Mark Welch | |
| Will Nicholls and Nick Broome took a convincing victory at Sundays Abingdon Carnival Stages after a superb drive that never saw them headed. Driving a Subaru Impreza WRC, they were fastest on all 8 stages winning the event by over 2 _ minutes from the husband and wife team of Steve and Yvonne Furzeland in a similar Subaru. | |

| In third after a few dramas were Chris Dillow and Adrian Tregunna in the ex Furzeland MG Metro 6R4. | ![]() |
Fourth place and first in class C fell to Dave Wilkes and Matthew Wilkes in their nimble 2 litre Corsa RWD. The high-speed venue and long stages are always tough on machinery, and this year’s event was no exception with 35 retirements, the most notable being last years winner, Peter Lloyd/Graham Handley (Subaru Impreza WRC) who dropped out on SS6 with turbo failure. |

In the classes, A went to Julian Wilkes and Shane Bowen after an amazing drive in their Nova that saw them at 9th overall, ahead of more powerful machinery. Class B saw victory taken by David Edmonds and Debra Turner in a Honda Civic. Click on the link to the left for the full results |
